Ebony and Ivory

Ebony and Ivory” is a 1982 number-one single by Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder.

1982… 31 years ago.  Did we really believe that racism would disappear if we modified our attitudes and behaviour, if we accepted each other and embraced the differences?

By Paul McCartney

EBONY AND IVORY,
LIVE TOGETHER IN PERFECT HARMONY,
SIDE BY SIDE ON MY PIANO KEYBOARD,
OH, LORD, WHY DON’T WE?

WE ALL KNOW THAT PEOPLE ARE THE SAME WHEREVER YOU GO,
THERE IS GOOD AND BAD IN EV’RYONE.
AND WE LEARN TO LIVE, WE LEARN TO GIVE EACH OTHER
WHAT WE NEED TO SURVIVE, TOGETHER ALIVE.

Nothing is ever as simple as we would like to believe. Here we are, with all this campaigning for “gay rights” for instance, yet half the world’s population i.e. WOMEN, don’t have rights. Just for starters: women STILL do the greater part of child-raising and housework in addition to now having to work outside the home to support aforesaid family, we STILL don’t have wage parity, our reproductive rights are STILL up for grabs, and there is MORE slavery now than ever before in the history of the world..and 85% of those slaves are FEMALE.

Isn’t it nice that the rights of sexual deviants have taken precedence over those of half the world’s population? It is a historical fact that the rise of sexual degeneracy has accompanied the total breakdown of many formerly great civilizations; Greece, Russia, France, China all come to mind. Combined with the lurking presence of those aforementioned 70,000+ nuclear weapons, I’d say we got a whole lot of “interesting times” to ‘look forward’ to!
