We’re Having a Heatwave!

We’re having a heat wave!  This week has been extremely hot…  with a heat advisory and smog alerts in effect, and warnings for severe thunder storms in some areas.

I live in southern Ontario. Look on the map for that arrowhead shape created by the Great Lakes. The straight line connecting Lake Ontario to Lake Erie is the Niagara River. Visualize Hamilton at the very tip of Lake Ontario, north of Lake Erie, with Toronto to the east on the north shore of Lake Ontario, and the Niagara River also to the east, if you travel on the south side of the lake.

This whole area that wraps around the western end of Lake Ontario is the most densely populated and richest in Canada… the “Golden Horseshoe”. This area has an amazing climate, with micro climates also, created by the Niagara escarpment and the cooling or warming effects of the lakes.

We have an interesting climate and lots of challenging WEATHER! We know how to live with extremes.

But Some Like It Hot! Turn up the AC and get a cold drink. Here is one of Hollywood’s funniest films, in full. Or if you haven’t time to watch Marilyn Monroe and the hilarious cross dressing fugitives, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemon, perhaps you would enjoy Miss Piggy’s reprise of the song.

We’re having a heat wave, A tropical heat wave, The temperature’s rising, It isn’t surprising, She certainly can can-can. She started a heat wave By letting her seat wave In such a way that The customers say that She certainly can can-can. Gee, her anatomy Makes the mercury Jump to ninety-three. We’re having a heat wave, A tropical heat wave, The way that she moves That thermometer proves That she certainly can can-can.

You sure are having a heat wave – and I’m so glad I live where it’s “milder on the coasts.” Our forecast for this week is sunny every day with highs around 25C/75C. Gorgeous!

    Love the Muppets clip!

“Milder on the coasts” can mean many things… even “wilder on the coasts”. I think that fussing about the weather is one of ourharmless and lovable quirks … when it’s hot we want cool. when it’s cold we want warm… and the seasons grind away, day by day, paying absolutely no attention to our grumbling.
